Mechanism of Action (MOA) questions in drug discovery quite often smack of either hubris (think complex world) or forgetfulness (think history). That humble approaches have quantitatively out-performed MOA approaches is reassuring, if that is that is the word, about our modest knowledge of how complex systems really work.
