DIABETES: Harvard researchers claim to have found the root cause of diabetes, a T-cell autoimmune destruction of the pancreas. If confirmed independently, this is big news in a field that has made marginal progress since the discovery of insulin by Banting and Best in 1921 in the dog called Lucy.
