HI FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (HFCS) is present in almost all processed foods and soft drinks because it’s much cheaper than sugar. Consuming sugar triggers a normal insulin release and processing; fructose evades this and is metabolized into blood fats. Increased consumption has been correlated to obesity. Average Americans consume a whopping 38 Lbs per year. Unlike the US diet, HFCS has not replaced sugar in Europe. Little doubt this stuff is not good in our food in these quantities. Will food be the next cigarettes? Do we trust food companies?
