IVF: An estimated five million children worldwide have been born using IVF since 1978 when Robert G Edwards and Patrick Steptoe first fertilized an egg outside a woman’s body and lef to the birth of Louis Brown, the first test tube baby. Edwards received the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for this remarkable achievement. But Edwards was active in the UK Eugenics Society, and was keen to reframe Eugenics away from the ugly Nazi aspirations or state-sponsored schemes to a concept of individual choice. ”
