GROUND-WATER IS A RICH SOUP of aqueous chemicals from natural and man-made sources, sometimes at appreciable levels. Many are part of the natural food chain of plants and microorganisms, and equally, but almost all are cumulative, and do not go away. If we foul our nest, for short-term gain, realistic remedies will be very hard to come by.
