FEARLESS THINKING. “Perhaps one can also turn the analogy on its head, and use granular matter physics to explore phenomena that are yet unobserved in real cosmology. An example would be the existence of primordial gravitational waves which in the real universe are still shrouded in mystery.” https://lnkd.in/dusKMKM View in LinkedIn

THE BLACK HOLE. “The length scale rS characterizing this solution is called the Schwarzschild radius; r = rS is identified with the event horizon, and represents the boundary between events connected to asymptopia and those that are confined to the region r ≤ rS - the black hole region.” https://lnkd.in/dusKMKM View in LinkedIn

PROTON DECAY. “Because black holes do not preserve baryon number, these black holes can catalyze proton decay. Protons that fall into the black holes could be returned as positrons. The Q effectively two dimensional massless modes provide a large enhancement to this process, both because they are massless and because of they are many.” https://lnkd.in/dX6Fbwx View in LinkedIn

“NATURAL SELECTION carries forth previous individual mutations—but again that just isn't enough to account for creative emergence (or what Whitehead called "the creative advance into novelty," which, according to Whitehead, is the fundamental nature of this manifest universe)."( Ken Wilber). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Wilber View in LinkedIn

WORTH REPEATING. “The magnetic fields near the horizon can be very large. So these black holes naturally provide a physical setup with very large magnetic fields. These large fields can restore the electroweak symmetry in the near horizon limit.” Chew on that one. https://lnkd.in/dX6Fbwx View in LinkedIn

AS OLD AS THE UNIVERSE. “For a GUT monopole, Mmon ∼ 1017Gev, we find that for Q > 106 the lifetime is larger than the age of the universe. We get a similar answer if we assume that the unit charge magnetic black hole has a mass near the weak gravity upper bound. Of course, if the unit charge monopoles are lighter, then one would need to make the charge larger, and the black holes bigger, to ensure long lifetimes.” (Don’t worry about the symbols, get the gist). https://lnkd.in/dX6Fbwx View in LinkedIn
