FRAGMENT FROM NATURE continues from last weekend and concludes this weekend on the theme of alternative splicing in genetics. This mechanism amplifies the number of proteins that a limited number of genes can make, thus playing a key role in evolution, allowing proteins with novel functions to expand the phenotype of organisms.
