REANALYSIS. “Motivated by the fact that our universe shares several aspects with a coasting universe, we have studied structure formation in universes involving equal amounts of negative and positive mass, with a particular emphasis on the Dirac-Milne cosmology.” https://lnkd.in/daA2SgMy View in LinkedIn

“One of the Milky Way’s premier star factories is the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), which came to life about 3 million years ago when stars first ignited in a cloud of molecular hydrogen. In this view, jets of gas erupt from infant stars emerging from their birthplaces.”" " https://lnkd.in/dVvuFFPY View in LinkedIn

A Caganer (Catalan pronunciation: [kəɣəˈne]) is a figurine depicted in the act of defecation appearing in nativity scenes in Catalonia and neighbouring areas with Catalan culture such as Andorra, Valencia, and Northern Catalonia (in southern France). It is most popular and widespread in these areas, but can also be found in other areas of Spain (Murcia), Portugal, and southern Italy (Naples)." " https://lnkd.in/dkEcYBAS View in LinkedIn

“ISAAC NEWTON was so haunted by that sense of the transcendent that he devoted the latter part of his life to alchemical studies.” https://lnkd.in/dCkkSu3Y View in LinkedIn

TANTALIZING DATA. “The Phanerozoic polar-wander curve for stable Europe is well established. Strikingly, Bazhenov et al. demonstrated that nearly all paleomagnetic poles for Precambrian rocks 600 to 1700 m.y. old from the Fennoscandian and Ukrainian shields and the western Urals lie so close to that curve as to make random overlaps of independent “Precambrian” and Phanerozoic curves unlikely (Fig. 32c).” https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0012825219302636?via=ihub View in LinkedIn

FRAGMENT FROM NATURE continues from last weekend and concludes this weekend on the extraordinary efforts of Professor Warren to change a geology paradigm that probably helped explain the Cambrian explosion 600 million years ago, and how entrenched dogmas resisted his work. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0012825219302636?via=ihub View in LinkedIn

SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. “Images of the Eagle Nebula show the Hubble Space Telescope's ability to capture pictures in both visible (left) and infrared (right) light. NASA is celebrating the successful restart of the telescope's payload computer, opening the door to more observations.”" " https://lnkd.in/ddZZNyaT View in LinkedIn

SENSES = BIOLOGICAL + CULTURAL. “Anthropological work focused on the senses is founded on the insistence that the senses are not merely a biological ground on which cultural meanings are constructed. Rather, the senses are always already fully cultural, and “sensory perception is a cultural as well as physical act.” https://lnkd.in/dTt-pFhv View in LinkedIn

SENSITIVITY NEEDED. “Antimatter particles in CRs represent a small fraction of the total flux, about 5 × 10(−3) for e+, 10(−5) for anti-p, 10(−7) for anti-D, less than 10(−8) for anti-4He or heavier antinuclei: these tiny fluxes, however, carry a great amount of information, since the origin of antiparticles is intimately related to fundamental processes.” (CR = cosmic rays). https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s10686-021-09708-w.pdf View in LinkedIn
