NEW TECHNOLOGY. “During the last 20 years, the advent space-borne magnetic spectrometers in space (AMS-01, Pamela, AMS-02), able to measure the charged cosmic radiation separating matter from antimatter, and to provide accurate measurement of the rarest components of Cosmic Rays (CRs) to the highest possible energies, have become possible, together with the ultra-precise measurement of ordinary CRs.” https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s10686-021-09708-w.pdf View in LinkedIn

In our culture at least, puppets evoke a very deep emotional trigger that goes to the heart of childhood and the disconcerting symbolism of these early toys. View in LinkedIn

NO NEGATIVITY. “When I first knew [him], I used to think that he watched himself, and would not allow his tongue to give expression to fretfulness, antipathy, complaint, and remonstrance. It did not occur to me as possible that these mental states could be absent in him. After long observation, however, I satisfied myself that such absence or unconsciousness was entirely real.” (Dr Bucke on the poet Walt Whitman). https://lnkd.in/d5aiMCmu View in LinkedIn

ANTIMATTER. “High precision particle astrophysics as a new window on the universe with an Antimatter Large Acceptance Detector In Orbit (ALADInO).” https://lnkd.in/du8rYCYD View in LinkedIn

CALL FOR CORROBORATION. “The authors document the methodological and statistical criteria for these determinations and recommend that analogous investigations be conducted elsewhere.” https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0012825219302636?via=ihub View in LinkedIn

EXPECTATIONS. “Whatever the experimental results, they will have important repercussions on our understanding of the evolution of our universe.” (The end of this exciting paper). https://lnkd.in/daA2SgMy View in LinkedIn

TANTALIZING DATA. “The Phanerozoic polar-wander curve for stable Europe is well established. Strikingly, Bazhenov et al. demonstrated that nearly all paleomagnetic poles for Precambrian rocks 600 to 1700 m.y. old from the Fennoscandian and Ukrainian shields and the western Urals lie so close to that curve as to make random overlaps of independent “Precambrian” and Phanerozoic curves unlikely (Fig. 32c).” https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0012825219302636?via=ihub View in LinkedIn

FRAGMENT FROM NATURE continues from last weekend and concludes this weekend on the extraordinary efforts of Professor Warren to change a geology paradigm that probably helped explain the Cambrian explosion 600 million years ago, and how entrenched dogmas resisted his work. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0012825219302636?via=ihub View in LinkedIn

SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. “Images of the Eagle Nebula show the Hubble Space Telescope's ability to capture pictures in both visible (left) and infrared (right) light. NASA is celebrating the successful restart of the telescope's payload computer, opening the door to more observations.”" " https://lnkd.in/ddZZNyaT View in LinkedIn
